There are two (2) login screens that you could run into while trying to access library resources.

Screen #1

OpenAthens/CNM Sign in

*This is the new screen to log in to access ebooks, databases, and materials within the catalog.

*This means you are trying to access either library databases directly or materials within a database. It is verifying that you are affiliated with CNM.

If you get this screen, you'll want to log in using your CNM credentials.

During the Summer 2025 intersession, CNM Libraries transitioned to a new sign-in provider called OpenAthens, which allows users to use their existing institutional credentials to log in. See the Welcome to OpenAthens guide for more information.

Troubleshooting:

  1. We recommend trying the Remote (Off-Campus) Access VPN Work Around by going to https://virtualdesktop.cnm.edu.
    1. Click on "Omnissa Horizon Web Client"
    2. Click on "Open Computer Lab"
    3. Open Chrome and navigate back to the area you were originally trying to access

*This acts as if you are accessing the library databases through a wired computer on campus.  If there is an issue with your login, this will tell you what issue is occurring with your login.

  1. If you cannot log in because you cannot access https://virtualdesktop.cnm.edu, your CNM email, myCNM, or Brightspace:

We recommend resetting or changing your CNM password at https://password.cnm.edu or contacting ITS by phone at (505) 224-4357. See How do I reset or change my CNM password? for more information.

  1. If you have already reset your password and are still unable to log in, we recommend:
    1. Closing all extra browsers and tabs on your device
    2. Clearing your cache (also known as clearing your browser history),
    3. Waiting 5 minutes, and then
    4. Trying to log in again

  1. If you are still unable to log in after following the directions above, please contact us.

Screen #2

*If you get this screen, you are trying to log in to your library account.

Please make sure you are signing in using your:

  1.  CNM ID number.
  2.  The password you created when you activated your account.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Not sure if you activated your account? Learn how to activate your account.
  2. Can't remember the password you created?  Just click the "Set / Reset Password" button.
